Energo University Students Visit Baikonur Cosmodrome to Witness Rocket Launch

On May 30, 3rd  and 4th year students from the Institute of Communication and Space Engineering at Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev), studying in the "Space Technology and Engineering" programs, continued the tradition of visiting the Baikonur Cosmodrome. They observed the launch of the "Soyuz 2.1a" rocket carrier with the "Progress MS-27" cargo spacecraft from the launch pad.

This trip to Baikonur was an incredible journey into the world of space achievements for the students. In addition to the unforgettable rocket launch, they saw the famous launch and technical complexes (No. 42, 45 "Zenit-M") and visited the "Zenit" assembly and testing building. The students also had the opportunity to interact with engineers and visit the cosmodrome museum.

The trip to Baikonur left an indelible impression on the students.

"We are grateful to our university for providing us with this unique opportunity. We are confident that the knowledge and experiences gained will remain with us for many years and will be beneficial in our future careers in astronautics and space research," shared the trip participants.

Notably, for the first time this year, students and faculty were able to watch the rocket launch in real-time not only from the cosmodrome but also from the university. The launch from Baikonur was broadcast live on monitors in the newly opened Mission Control Center at Energo University’s Department of Space Engineering, a scientific and educational hub for space technologies. This hub is part of the space infrastructure not only of the university but also of all scientific organizations in Kazakhstan working in the field of space activities.
