Nikolay Zhilyakov, Student of the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies, specialty "Information security systems" at the Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev), along with his partner Utebay Oralbay from Yessenov University, won the 8th annual Huawei ICT Competition in the Computing Track, held in Shenzhen (China). Students from Kazakhstan also won in the Cloud track.
Remarkably, this is not Nikolay Zhilyakov's first victory. In 2023, he also secured first place in the Huawei ICT Competition as part of the Kazakhstan national team.
According to the organizers, this year saw a record number of participants: over 170,000 students from 2,000 universities across more than 90 countries. The high competition did not prevent Nikolay Zhilyakov from proving that the knowledge gained at the Huawei Academy based at Energo University enables solving the most complex tasks in the field of information and communication technologies.
As noted by Zhazira Kamashbek, Huawei’s Talent Ecosystem Development Manager in Kazakhstan, during a meeting with Energo University Rector Gani Nygymetov, the Huawei Academy at Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications is considered one of the strongest in the country due to the high qualifications of the instructors, who are certified trainers, and the great involvement of the students.
