Kazakhstan's future energy specialists will be trained in collaboration with the Moscow Power Engineering Institute
On May 20 in Moscow, during the visit of a delegation from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev (AUPET), an agreement on cooperation was reached with the National Research University «Moscow Power Engineering Institute» (MPEI). The document was signed by AUPET Rector Gani Nygymetov and MPEI Rector Nikolai Rogalev.
The agreement marked the beginning of long-term cooperation between the two leading energy universities of Kazakhstan and Russia, aimed at training qualified specialists for the most important sectors of the economy of both countries.
The parties agreed to develop a sustainable model for the future MPEI branch at Energo University (AUPET) in Almaty, launch joint dual-degree programs in the fields of heat and power engineering, and create a joint Targeted Training Center for energy specialists at AUPET.
In addition, the agreement provides for cooperation in educational and scientific fields within the framework of the development of the MPEI-Hainan University project.
«Given the long-standing historical ties of the three leading energy universities since Soviet times - Moscow, Ivanovo, and Almaty energy institutes, it would be advisable to deepen our cooperation, focusing on the best modern technologies and solving urgent problems of the energy complexes of the two countries», noted Gani Nygymetov.
MPEI is one of the largest technical universities in Russia in the fields of energy, electronics, computer science, and electrical engineering. The university prides itself on its advanced scientific infrastructure, which includes a design bureau and an experimental plant, its own thermal power plant, and the largest scientific and technical library in the country. Founded in 1930, the university has over 20,000 students.
