Deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan opened the anniversary year of Energo University

On January 31, the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (Energo University) launched commemorative events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of its founding. The university, which has become a forge of personnel for the energy and telecommunications industries of Central Asia, marked this significant milestone with the opening of a modern interactive museum of the university, a lecture hall named after the first rector Albert Vasilyevich Bolotov and a new Nero Smart Energy training laboratory.

The solemn event was attended by outstanding graduates, including members of Parliament, heads of large companies.

Senator Bekbolat Orynbekov and deputies of the Mazhilis Duissenbai Turganov and Edil Zhanbyrshin, graduates of the University, read out congratulations from the Speakers of the Senate and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and noted the university's contribution to the training of highly qualified personnel.

The guests emphasized that over the past 50 years, the university has not only provided education but has been training professionals who determine the development of key areas of the country's economy. Today's students are tomorrow's talented engineers, inventors, and managers. The opening of an interactive museum directly on campus will expand their horizons, inspire outstanding professors and graduates with examples, and strengthen their love for the profession.

The new museum reflects the 50-year history of the university since its independence in 1975. At that time, at the state level, D. Kunaev made a strategic decision to separate the energy faculty of the Kazakh Polytechnic University into an independent educational institution — the Almaty Power Engineering Institute, which later became the third energy university of Union significance. The museum exposition tells about outstanding employees, graduates, scientific achievements and the significant role of the university in the development of Kazakhstan.

An important event was the opening of the lecture hall, named after the first rector of the university, Kazakh power engineer scientist, outstanding inventor Albert Vasilyevich Bolotov. The ceremony was attended by his wife Nina Alekseevna and son Sergey Albertovich, who thanked the university for preserving the memory of the first rector.

Sergey Bolotov, President of ENECSYS LTD (Canada), also gave an open lecture on the topic: "Vertical wind turbines: innovative solutions for sustainable energy".

Rector Gani Nygymetov, opening the jubilee year of the university, noted the importance of generational continuity:

— 50 years is not just a number. These are the stories of more than 40 thousand graduates, breakthrough research and constant dialogue with the industries for which we train specialists. Our museum and Bolotov Hall are a bridge between generations, spaces where bold ideas are born. We are preserving the legacy, but we are preparing for new challenges. Already, our educational programs cover green energy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Even after half a century, we continue to set trends, combining the experience of the past and the ambitions of the new generation.
