On February 24, Energo University hosted a Russian Language Olympiad dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the university. The event brought together first-year students from the Kazakh department, who demonstrated their knowledge and skills in the fields of Russian language, literature, and linguistics.
The Olympiad consisted of two rounds, each designed to test different aspects of Russian language proficiency. In the first round, participants were tasked with literary editing: students worked on a text intended for publication in a scientific journal. This stage assessed their ability to correct stylistic, grammatical, and logical errors, as well as adapt the text for an academic audience.
The second round was conducted in an interactive format and involved solving linguistic problems. Participants were required to demonstrate not only a deep understanding of Russian grammar but also a grasp of linguistic and cultural studies, translation skills, and knowledge of Russian classical literature. The tasks were designed to stimulate creative thinking and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
The results of the Olympiad were determined based on the outcomes of both rounds. The winners were:
- 1st place: Abzal Azhar (group SIBk-24-6A, supervisor — Ph.D., Associate Professor Nurmakhanova M.K.);
- 2nd place: Ramatullayeva Ayauym (group AUk-24-1b, supervisor — Ph.D., Associate Professor Kubdasheva K.B.);
- 3rd place: Madenietova Gauhar (group ISk-24-2b, supervisor — Ph.D., Associate Professor Dosmakhanova R.K.).
All active participants of the Olympiad were awarded certificates of honor for their efforts and high level of preparation.
The Olympiad content was developed by Ph.D., Associate Professor Smirnova Y.G., who noted that the tasks were designed in accordance with modern educational standards and aimed at developing students' critical thinking and linguistic intuition.
Participants highly appreciated the quality of the tasks and the transparency of the evaluation system. The event not only allowed students to showcase their knowledge but also fostered a greater interest in studying the Russian language and culture.
Holding such events highlights the importance of intercultural dialogue and strengthens the academic traditions of Energo University, which has been a center of educational innovation and professional growth for 50 years.
