Winners of the KAZ ROCKETS Satellite Design Tournament Announced

From April 10 to 13 Energo University hosted the final stage of the national engineering tournament KAZ ROCKETS Satellite Design Tournament 2025 (KSDT) focused on the design, assembly, and launch of nanosatellites.

The qualifying stage of the tournament attracted 165 teams from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Based on the results of the online selection, the top 20 teams advanced to the semifinals, and 10 of them were invited to Almaty to participate in final round.

On April 10, the finalists arrived at Energo University and began assembling their satellites. All necessary materials, equipment, and tools were provided by the university.

On April 11, the participants conducted environmental tests on their satellites — including vacuum chamber exposure, deep freeze testing at temperatures down to –20°C, and overload testing at 6G.

On April 12, the teams launched their nanosatellites using aerostats that lifted the devices to an altitude of up to 4 kilometers above sea level. After the launches, organizers analyzed the telemetry data and compared the results with evaluations of engineering documentation, assembly quality, and test performance.

The winners of the tournament:

1st place — Team ARA (Astana)

2nd place — Team Stargate Rocketry (Aktobe)

3rd place — Team SEDS-J (Almaty)

"We understand the importance of contributing to the development of science and engineering education in Kazakhstan," noted Energo University’s Vice-Rector for Science Kuanysh Alipbayev. "That’s why our university serves as a venue for major competitions like the KAZ ROCKETS Satellite Design Tournament, providing comprehensive support to both organizers and participants."
