A round table titled «Managing the Energy Transition in the Context of Sustainable Development in Kazakhstan» was held at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. The event was organized by AUPET’s Center for New Energy Policy.
During the conference, a keynote speech was delivered by Professor German Trofimov, Vice President of the Israel Independent Academy for the Development of Science, Honored Power Engineer of Kazakhstan, and former Rector of AUPET. He shared his vision of the future of the energy sector with the audience which included representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Samruk-Energo JSC, university faculty, members of the private sector, and civil society offering specific recommendations for Kazakhstan on economically efficient decarbonization and energy transition.
The round table was also attended by representatives of CHPP-3 and scientific research institutes of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy spoke about the prospects for the development of the nuclear industry, while AUPET professors presented reports on topics such as a just transition from coal to alternative energy sources and energy security.
