Dala Edge Paves the Way for Bollywood
Dala Edge Creative Tech Park is making a strategic step towards the Indian film market.
On June 14, as part of a visit to India, the regional film team, with the active support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India, held a series of key meetings with representatives of the world's largest film industry. Partners include the management of Films Division of India, Film and Television Institute of India and Whistling Woods International.
The main topics of the negotiations were:
– launch of joint film productions (co-production);
– promotion of Kazakhstani cinema on the Indian market;
– cooperation in the field of film education.
India is a world leader in film production, producing over 1,600 films annually. The volume of the Indian film market exceeds 3.5 billion dollars, reaching an audience not only in South Asia, but also in the Middle East, Africa and among the global Indian diaspora.
The Kazakh side invited Indian partners to work together:
– filming in unique locations in Kazakhstan;
– participation in thematic film forums;
– launching joint educational programs with the new international campus of the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Kaskelen— a key project of Dala Edge.
"In order to develop creative industries, we have opened the NYFA overseas campus in Kaskelen. Admission of students has already begun, and classes will start on September 29. We invite students from India to receive first-class American film education in Kazakhstan," said Gani Nygymetov, Rector of Energo University.
"Creative industries are not only about culture, but also about economics. Creative products — films, music, games, animation — have a high export potential. India, with its 1.5 billion audience, is one of the largest and most attractive markets where Kazakhstan can take its rightful place," said Danat Zhumin, co—founder of Dala Edge Creative Tech Park.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in India ensured a high level of organization of the visit, contributing to building a direct dialogue between the creative ecosystems of the two countries.
"Our task is to build bridges between the peoples of Kazakhstan and India, opening up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. Today, the creative sector is actively developing in Kazakhstan, branches of leading universities are appearing. I am confident that the export of educational services and creative products to India will give a tangible impetus to the rapprochement of our countries and provide additional revenue to the budget," said Azamat Eskarayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to India.
